Can someone tell me about what happened to Stanton Barrett Jr?

I know he was a stunt man who switched to Nascar, and I know Nos Energy Drink started up a #50 team for him to and then boasted way too much about how they were gonna win every race they were going to enter due to their superior equipment, but after that the story drops off. I assume the team never qualified for a race, but can someone tell me exactly what happened? This all went down the year before I became a Nascar fan
