Soon-to-be college grad hopeless and needs help?

I'm a senior at Rutgers University studying Economics with a current GPA of 3.9, a strong track record of academic excellence, involved in some school clubs related to my major as well as a member of various organizations that boast academic integrity in the fields of business and economics. Unfortunately I haven't done any internships and have one semester left. I've been looking and applying but have received zero responses and feeling worried about my future prospects. I know times are tough for recent college grads and that an employment crisis exists in this country, but I'm having trouble just getting an internship. I feel I've wasted my time on a degree that's getting me nowhere and that I should have majored in something else. Unfortunately it's too late and I'm not paying a dime more for college so I need to know what I can do with what I have now. I want to have at least one internship finished (preferably related to my major) by time I graduate. Where should I look and what steps should I take to increase my employment chances in the near future that already seem bleak. Please provide as much detail as you can and lay off the jokes. I was the first in my family to go to college and felt unprepared for all that I should have done during college. I need some advice I'm losing my mind. Thanks
