What is your opnion of the parliamentary system of govenment and could it be a viable option for the USA?

No, especially because it has elements of Unitarism where power is concentrated at the centre. This would most certainly be a recipe for disaster in most countries of the world with multi-ethnic and multi cultural groups or tribes. The USA is such a country because it is made up of many such groups which is why the USA is a union of such states. The Parliamentary system as operated in the UK has its own peculiarity which may not be easily replicated in USA or elsewhere in that it is a fusion of Parliamentary, Unitarism and Monarchism. It was simply rhetoric of political convenience when David Cameron and the Tory machine went on diatribe of - POWER IS TOO CONCENTRATED IN LONDON - during the electioneering campaign that brought the Conservatives to power. Well, what has the bonga head done about it since he came to power. In fact power was more concentrated in Whitehall before the advent of Tony Blair who initiated devolution of powers to the regions. As I personally remember it John Major and the Tories were opposed to devolution and were banging on about the West Lothian question - enough said on that. The Parliamentary system has also been known to be full of bottlenecks. Only some months ago, half of all British MPs were confirmed FRAUDSTERS with expenses fiddling and house flipping {a good addition to the English Lexicon} . As such, there are too much problems for a federalist country like the USA & Nigeria to even contemplate a Parliamentary system of government. The American system and Constitution works so well that the so called Parliamentary system has a lot to cultivate from them. Like the concept of equality. An Obama WILL never happen in UK because regardless of anything behind the PR machine, the UK is still a bastion of INSTITUTIONAL RACISM and the Tories will always be the party of Enoch Powell, littered with Champaign guzzling, cigar puffing, Public School educated, foul mouthed, racist lot.
